SUNCADIA CUSTOM RESIDENCE

This custom residence is a unique 5,700 SF "cabin" located in the Suncadia area of Cle Elum, Washington. The construction consists of wood and timber framing with isolated steel framing for aesthetic and structural purposes, including a custom 67’ steel roof truss establishing a spacious great room area.

The building layout features multiple components including the main residence, a primary suite attached via enclosed bridge, and a large attached garage. Substantial covered outdoor space is provided to enable an immersive experience with the natural landscape.

Structural challenges for this project included a large custom steel truss, substantial sub-diaphragms within the roof to ensure lateral stability in the face of seismic and wind forces, and special consideration and load tracing to resolve the high-snow loading criteria
