CUSTOM RESIDENTIAL CABIN

This project consists of approximately 10,000 SF of residential modern cabin space in the heart of the Summit at Snoqualmie village. The house sits on a sloped lot in both directions, with three distinct areas of the home, connected via hallways and entry vestibules creating a sprawling landscaped home entry from the front and back of the house.

The design aesthetic features the use of exposed glulam beams supporting low, mono-sloped roofs for a contemporary roof profile. Steel and concrete elements are used to create cantilevered corner conditions, tall vaulted ceilings, wrapped balconies, and low roof brows.

The challenges of structural design included shear transfer through unconventional diaphragms, framing layout that incorporated exposed ceiling conditions and architectural elements, and high-snow loading to be resolved over large open spaces.
